REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB
Spring Series Race 1 &2
11h000 Sunday 21 September

Hello all,

This Sunday we have an early 11h00 start for the first two races of the Spring Series taking advantage of the high tide and to allow those members who do not stay for the bring-n-braai afterwards the opportunity to sail and get back home in time to spend the afternoon with their families.

The Spring Series is a trophy race with trophies for each of the different classes. Final results for this series are determined using the Club personal handicap system so every sailor has an equal chance of taking home their class trophy.

Please make a note of and remember the early start this Sunday.

Sailing School kicked off to a fantastic start last weekend. It was really encouraging to see so many youngsters eager to learn the sport and from what was witnessed on the water the senior Oppie fleet has some serious competition heading their way.

This Sunday sailing school will have a short session of tuition after which our new sailors will have an opportunity to test their skills against each other in their first race of the season.

The Hurricane Series held over the previous two weekends provided contrasting wind conditions and some interesting sailing.

A fleet of 23 sailing dinghies participated in the series proving that Redhouse is firmly back on the sailing map and is once again the Eastern Cape's premier dinghy sailing Club and venue.

A very big thank you to all entrants for demonstrating their support to the Club and hearty congratulations to Andrew Butler, Robin Waters, Pieter Groenewald and Patrick Butler for winning the series in their respective classes.

Complete results of the Hurricane Series may be viewed on the RYC web page or by clicking here.

The East Cape Provincials in Mossel Bay are just one week away and with eleven entries already committed Redhouse Yacht Club will be flying it's colours high and proud. If you have not entered there is still time to do so. Support from non-sailors at Mossel Bay is also encouraged and all are welcome to attend and enjoy the fun and activities there next weekend.

RYC Personal Club Handicaps have been assessed and the league table may be viewed on the Club web page by clicking here. Handicap rankings play an important role in Club racing and are adjusted after each event. If you have not been assessed for a personal handicap that means you have not yet sailed in enough events this season providing you with yet another valid excuse to get your boat out and sail.

I look forward to you joining us for some great sailing this Sunday.

Yours in sailing
