REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB g
Spring Series - Races 3 & 4

Hello all,

This Weekend at Redhouse we have our first early start of the new season with the Spring Series races 3 & 4 starting at 12h00 sharp.

The long term weather forecast predicts a hot day with just 9 knots of wind making this weekend an easy sail for all members.

Braai fires will be burning by the time we finish the races and all members and their families, whether or not they sail, are welcome to join their fellow club members for the bring 'n braai after the racing this Sunday

Sailing School for all members starts at 10h00 this Sunday. All sailors wanting tuition are asked to please be at the Club before 09h30 and to rig their boats as best possible before the 10h00 start to allow more time for tuition before the racing.

A special shortened novice course will be set in front of the clubhouse for our new junior members to sail against each other as part of the Spring Series races.

The KZN Youth Provincial Regatta last weekend at HMYC was enjoyed by three RYC members who once again did our Club proud.

Josh Woolard achieved sixth place in the Optimist fleet while Patrick Butler and Sydney Pettitt achieved second and third place respectively in the smaller RS Tera class.

We were extremely proud of Patrick who showed his mettle on the Sunday by staying out in very strong and gusty winds even though all but one other sailor from the RS Tera fleet and several others from the Optimist and Dabchick fleets returned to shore shortly after the start of the first race that day. Very well done to you Patrick!

The 2009/10 Club Sub's and Boatshed Rental accounts were posted a couple of weeks ago. If you have forgotten to pay please make an effort to settle your club account as soon as possible. Payment per cash or cheque may be made to either Esme' or Benno or directly to the RYC bank account. If paying directly to the bank account please remember to specify your name as the payee reference or our treasurer will not know who the payment is from.

The RYC 105th Anniversary is on Saturday 24 October and will be celebrated with a blast of a party to commemorate the Clubs birthday.

The evening function is being organised as a fun(d)raiser by our lady members who jumped into action when they were told that the Club would match rand-for-rand any money they raised toward renovating the ladies ablutions after they complained that only the mens ablutions were being renovated.

Full details of the function will be made known in next weeks newsletter but in the interim please make certain to diarise and keep 24 October free to join in the celebrations.

After two weekends away at provincial regattas I am looking forward to once again joining you on the water for the races this Sunday and to enjoying your company at the bring 'n braai afterward.

Yours in sailing
