REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB Max Lippstreu Trophy |
Hello all, The Max Lippstreu Trophy Race is this Sunday with an early 11h00 start on a good tide with a decent southeaster and a sunny day forecast. The race will be followed by prizegiving and a family bring 'n braai. The prestigious Max Lippstreu Trophy is a single pursuit race and the only event on our sailing calendar where you will sail upstream towards Perseverance. As one of the prestige races on our sailing program this race enjoys good support and the pursuit start affords every sailor an equal chance of winning the trophy. Please note the early start time, ensure you arrive in time to rig your boat to be ready before the start and do join us for the prizegiving and braai straight after the race. The GLYC Inter Club Regatta this past weekend was a fantastic event enjoyed by all who participated. Redhouse was represented by an impressive fleet of twelve yachts who despite not bringing the trophy back home did extremely well. Congratulations to Josh Woolard who won every race in the junior fleet as well as all other RYC sailors and their support teams who flew the RYC flag with pride throughout the weekend. A big thank you to GLYC and the organisers of the regatta for being such fantastic hosts and for a really well organised event. We learned a lot from you and will put this knowledge to good use to ensure that the next inter club to be held at Redhouse on 24 & 25 January 2009 will be as successful. The official results of this regatta are posted at www.ryc.co.za/results/glyc.html Sailing School - There will a short session of sailing school this Sunday morning followed by a novice race in front of the clubhouse after the senior fleet have begun their race.
