This Weekend at Redhouse we sail the annual RYC Frostbite Regatta with 14h00 start times on both Saturday and Sunday. The Frostbite Regatta is also the last event on our 2009/10 sailing program before the winter break. The sailing on Saturday will be followed by the End Of Season Club Supper from 19h00 in the clubhouse. The current weather forecast for the weekend is light Easterly on Saturday and a moderate Southeasterly on Sunday both of which will provide good racing for sailors of all abilities. The Club Supper on Saturday night is a must attend event for all members. Cost is R25 per adult and R15 per child under twelve years. I am not allowed to disclose the main course (it is going to be a very pleasant and delicious surprise) as Gail and Rhona are putting a huge effort into it but can say that there will also be chicken as a second choice main course. Humidity is very low on Friday so Shona's meringues are certain to be served up with dollops of fresh cream for desert! Even if you do not sail on Saturday please make a concerted effort to attend the Club supper and join us in celebrating the end of truly fantastic 2009/10 sailing season. Tables may be booked in advance by phoning Rhona on 041 463 1611. RS Tera World Championships - Four Redhouse sailors have qualified and been selected to sail the 2010 RS Tera World Championships to be sailed out Carnac, France from 23 till 30 July. Congratulations go to Sydney Pettitt, Patrick Butler, Justin Harth and Tarryn Butler for their selection to the team. I am certain they will do both our Club and country proud at this regatta and wish them the very best of luck. Fundraising - The Club and the sailors benefiting will be conducting various fundraising efforts to raise much needed funds to contribute to the cost of participating the RS Tera World Championships. during next few weeks. Please support their efforts be it buying a raffle ticket, paying them for a car wash, etc. RYC Class Championships - The RYC class championships sailed last weekend provided both challenging and exciting racing for all of the twenty one entries. On Saturday the three races sailed in light winds brought out the best in all sailors who really had to know their boats and tactics to get some speed, whereas on Sunday the single extra long race in very strong winds resulted in extreme white knuckle rides and some boat damage for those who braved the water. Congratulations go to all sailors but mores so Trevor Kitson who once again takes the honours in the Laser class as well as Steve Arnold, Beno Badenhuizen, Sydney Pettitt, Eben and Johan Viviers who won their respective class trophies. The complete results are pasted in at the bottom of this newsletter. RYC Annual General Meeting & Prizegiving - The AGM has been set down for Sunday 20 June. The planned agenda of the day will be a Club breakfast followed by the AGM and prizegiving. Please diarise this now as it is important day for both the Club and all members. I look forward to joining you on the water for the Frostbite Regatta this weekend and at the Club supper on Saturday night. Yours in sailing
