Wind - Races 1 & 2 - Light South West
Wind - Races 3 & 4 - Light Easterly

Congratulations to all sailors and especially the winners of each respective class.

In Last Weeks Newsletter I slipped up rather poorly by omitting to mention and congratulate Eben and Johan Vivier on their outstanding performance in the Mirror Nationals as well as their result in the 420 class at the Western Cape Provincials during the Easter break.

Eben and Johan sailed and achieved 4th place overall in the Mirror nationals qualifieing them for entry as part of the South African team to sail in the next Mirror World's in Australia.

Considering that the twins have sailed the Mirror competition circuit for less than a year and beat most of the much more experienced Mirror sailors this is a real achievement for them and reflects their dedication to the sport, an example for all our sailors to follow.

We are still to learn if the lads will sail in the Mirror Worlds or if the Mirror nationals were their swansong in the Mirror fleet following their acquisition of a brand new 420 class sailboat that they sailed rather well in the W.Cape provincials achieving 9th position out of a fleet of seventeen boats.

Very well done to both of you and my sincere apologies for slipping up and not acknowledging your outstanding regatta achievements in last weeks newsletter.

The Sailing Program for the remaining weekends of the 2009/10 sailing season is as follows:-

  • Saturday 8th May - 14h00 Class Champs Race 1 & 2 (&3)
  • Sunday 9th May - 14h00 Class Champs Race (3) & 4

  • Saturday 22nd May - 14h00 Frostbite Regatta
  • Saturday 22nd May - 18h00 Club Supper plus Official Opening of the New Ablutions
  • Sunday 23rd May - 14h00 Frostbite Regatta and Closing Cruise

We realise that this Sunday is mothers day and will do everything possible to complete the racing of the Class Championships as early as possible on Sunday. Weather and tides permitting the bridge officer may be able to start three of the four races in the series on Saturday leaving just the fourth race to be sailed on Sunday.

Have a great week and I look forward to seeing a large fleet sailing and competing for the Class Championship trophies this weekend.

Yours in sailing
