Special Trophy Race 1 & 2

Hello all,

This Weekend At Redhouse we have the repeat of race 1 and 2 of the Special Trophy series that was blown out on 01 March.

Start time for the racing this Sunday is 11h00 sharp and with a mild 10knot Southerly forecast the winds will be good for all sailors.

The traditional bring 'n braai will follow after the second race and with great weather forecast this is an ideal opportunity for you to bring the rest of the family or some friends to Redhouse to experience some of the friendly RYC hospitality and for them to perhaps try some sailing.

Last Weekend myself and three of our regular sailors were attending a Coach Development Seminar so had to miss the racing however from the reports I have had there was some very exciting sailing in gusting winds quite a bit stronger than what was predicted, all of which contributed to Dave Oldham being rudely reminded of the consequence of too little practice and too many Sunday braais at the ZRC!

I have not managed to get hold of the results for the races last Sunday yet but am delighted to have learned that Trevor Kitson is once again sailing fit and providing Frank Collier with a respectable challenge. It will be interesting to see how these two 'old salts' stand up to the challenge from the full fleet this weekend.

The Official East Cape Interschool Sailing Regatta is now just one week away. To avoid paying the R30 late entry penalty it is essential that all junior sailors enter before 15 March.

From entries received to date I do believe this interschool is going to be bigger and better than ever before. Even if you are not sailing please do support the event and book a place at the Saturday night spit braai.

More information and entry forms for the East Cape Interschool Regatta is posted at www.ryc.co.za/interschools.

Sailing School - There will be a short session sailing school at Redhouse this weekend after which the novice fleet will have an opportunity to join in the races and get their last practice in ahead of the interschool regatta.

Melissa's More To Life Than Laundry blog has an interesting twist this week as romance creeps in. The latest update to melissa's blog is posted at http://www.moretolifethanlaundry.com/?p=73

The Weather At Redhouse is never the same as what it is in town. Please remember that more often than not when it is raining in town we have sunny skies at Redhouse so please first call Rhona on 082 576 0239 for a live update on the conditions at Redhouse before deciding to stay indoors and not join us on the water.

As always I look forward to you joining us on the river for the races this Sunday and at the braai afterwards.

Yours in sailing
