REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB g
RYC AGM, Prizegiving & Breakfast

Hello all,

It seems like we finished the 2009/10 sailing season and packed away our boats just in time to beat the winter chill that has descended upon us.

So while you are all roasting your toes in front of the heater, getting ready the Fifa 2010 World Cup and annoying your neighbours by blowing your vuvuzela as often as possible I need to remind you that this years sailing program is not over just yet.

RYC Club Breakfast - The Club breakfast on Sunday 20 June is confirmed and bookings are now been taken. Gail Badenhuizen will once again be performing her magic in the kitchen but only for those who book a table before 9.00am next week Wednesday.

Cost per adult is just R30 and children under 12 years pay less. Gail has very kindly offered the profit from the breakfast toward the costs of the RYC sailors who have been selected for and will be sailing in the 2010 RS Tera World Championships in France during July. To book your table please ensure that you telephone Gail on 041 4632005 no later than 09.00am on Wednesday 16 June.

Space at the breakfast is limited and only those lucky enough to be able to book a table will be catered for so if you snooze you loose and go hungry!

RYC Annual General Meeting - The Redhouse Yacht Club Annual General Meeting has been set down for 11.00am Sunday 20 June. This is an important meeting and every member is requested to please be present. The agenda for the meeting will be forwarded via email to all members early next week.

RYC 2010 Prizegiving - The prizegiving for the 2009/10 sailing season will take place directly after the AGM on Sunday 20 June. In addition to the prestigious and historic RYC trophies I have put in an order for just over one hundred medals that will be awarded to the victors and sailors who competed in the various races during the past season.

The prizegiving is an important event for our sailors and all members are asked to remain behind for it after the AGM.

A Light Finger Luncheon will follow the prizegiving and all members attending are asked to please bring a platter of snacks or savouries for table.

The Frostbite Regatta that closed the sailing events of the 2009/10 sailing season was very well supported and despite the light winds exciting racing was enjoyed by all on both the Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks to Gail and Pam for a wonderful club supper laid on the Saturday night and for donating all the ingredients. Although not as many came as anticipated a great evening was had by all and raised R1,205.00 which Pam and Gail have generously donated toward the renovation of the old sail shed. A big thank you to Gail, Pam and to all the helpers who helped cook, baked the meringues and served up a most delicious meal.

The RYC 2010 / 11 Sailing Program has now been published and promises a busy and varied year of sailing both at Redhouse and quite a few away regattas. A condensed PDF version may be downloaded and printed by clicking here. The complete program with tides is on the Club web site.

I look forward to seeing everybody next week Sunday at the Club Breakfast, AGM and Prizegiving.

Yours in sailing
