The RYC 2008/9 Sailing Season has drawn to close but it is not over yet!

After a really fantastic and very successful year of sailing we still need to close the year with our Annual General Meeting and the long awaited prize giving.

The 2009 Redhouse Yacht Club AGM and Prizegiving is at 11h00 on Sunday 21 June at the Clubhouse. All RYC members and their family are requested to please attend and to bring a plate of snacks per family to be enjoyed afterward. Complimentary wine and other liquid refreshment will be available.

The past season has enjoyed superb growth in Club membership and more boats on the water each weekend than Redhouse has witnessed for many years. We sailed over forty races in total this year and a mammoth 32 trophies and 216 medals will weigh the down the trophy table.

The AGM is also your chance to have your say and to nominate members to serve on the 2009/10 executive committee. If you would like to nominate a particular member to serve on the new committee please complete the online nomination for at www.ryc.co.za/nominations.html before noon on 18 June. To avoid embarrassment it is important that you first determine from the person you wish to nominate that they are able and willing to serve.

Submission of items that any member wishes to be included on the AGM agenda must please be sent via email to agm@ryc.co.za before noon on 16 June 2009.

The Bailey Southwell Trophy Race Results have been posted on the Club web site. Congratulations to our winners and all who entered.

The 2009/10 RYC Sailing Program has been finalised and is now able to viewed and downloaded on the Club web site. Thanks go to Don for once again putting pen to paper and compiling an exciting program for the year ahead.

New Training / Racing Boats from the RS Racing Sailboat range are to be introduced to our waters in the new season. You can get a sneak preview of what to expect and even pre-book a demonstration / test drive of the new boats at www.rssailing.co.za

Fund Raising to help cover the cost of renovating the ablutions and boatsheds prior to the start of the new sailing season is under way. Willing donors of material, labour and most of all money are asked to please make themselves known to me.

It is important that we modernise our facilities that have suffered consequent to the big floods and I appeal to all members, past and present, who able to assist in one way or another to please contact me. Provision has been made by the Club to repay financial contributions if this is required by a benefactor.

Please remember to attend the AGM next weekend and yes, we do know it is also fathers day. The AGM will be kept as short as possible for dads and their families unable to join us straight afterward to celebrate the fantastic year of sailing we have all enjoyed at RYC.
