REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB
July 2008 Newsletter

Greetings,

We are already halfway through the rest period between sailing seasons and with just six weeks to go you should be thinking about getting your yachts ready to sail in the first races of 2008/9 sailing season on 30 / 31 August 2008.

I believe there can no disagreeing that we had a good 2007/8 sailing season and with several new members already signed up and an increased fleet the new season is destined to be even better.

Forthcoming events that you should please diarise and keep free to support your Club are:-

Other important issues that all members should be aware of are:-

  • 2008/9 Sailing Program - The committee has decided to use the Internet to publicise the new sailing program and not to print hard copy of the calendar as in the past. The final draft of the 2008/9 sailing program is now able to viewed on the Club web site at www.ryc.co.za

  • Boatsheds - At the 2008 AGM it was announced that boatsheds are for use by active sailing members and that unless surplus sheds are available members using Club boatsheds merely as a storage facility will be asked to make alternative storage arrangements as will members who default on rental payment for their boatshed. If you are in arrears with 2006/7/8 boatshed rentals or no longer require your boatshed please contact Di Robertson on 041 4633630.

  • Abandoned Boats - Several boats in the boatsheds for which boatshed rental is outstanding have been identified as being abandoned or belonging to persons unknown. Some of these boats will be commandeered for use as Club boats and the remainder will be disposed of after reasonable effort has been made to determine who the owners of these craft are. If you think one of these boats may belong to you please contact me or Di Robertson urgently.

  • Club Maintenance - Robin Waters has identified quite a few areas of the property requiring work. Both material and labour are required for many of these and volunteers / material are sought. If you are able to spare a few hours to assist or have paint, creosote, varnish, tiles, tile cement and other useable building material (or even money) lying around that you wish to donate to the Club please contact me.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Club this Friday evening for the cheese tasting fundraiser social.

As always please feel free to contact me directly or via the www.ryc.co.za contacts page should you have any questions or require further information.

Yours in sailing
