Hello all

Summer Series race 1 and 2

There will be sailing this Sunday the 8th as we dust off the webs and grease the wheels. Due to the good tide and some members suffering terribly from withdrawals, we will be bringing the 1st two races of the summer series forward a week. The start will be at 14:00 on a rising tide with a predicted 15 - 20 knot East.

Interclub RYC 2012

As you all know the weekend of the 21st and 22nd is our annual interclub regatta and Rhona is asking for volunteers to help man the all important table during the course of the weekend. Notice of Race and entrance details are on the website.

Results

The SAS youth Nationals was held in the middle of December with about 210 boats competing in Hermanus. The Oppie has made a comeback with 80 boats in the two fleets. The Viviers Express won the 420 class and Josh and Thomas came a solid ninth out of a fleet of 14 even after a broken mast, well done to both crews.

The annual Kromme river regatta on new years day was well attended by RYC sailors. 2nd place went to Trevor Kitson on his Laser, 3rd place was a tie between Eben and Johan on their 420 and Frans and Jeremy on the Sonnet. Tarryn took 5th place on the Tera Pro and Patrick came in 7th on the Tera Sport. The locals are starting to get nervous !! There were about 19 boats in the fleet.

Sailing School

Sailing school will continue on Sunday the 29th January at 10:00. We have about 4 old Oppie hulls for sale for those who are interested, no sails, rigs or foils but good fun just to mess around in. Talk to Rhona or myself if you are interested.

That’s all for now Friends and Family, a more comprehensive report of the crazy antics on the river will follow next week.

See you on the water.

Kindest Regards
Andrew Butler.
