REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB

Penny Pinchers RYC Interclub Regatta

Interclub Regatta 2009

Hello all,

The RYC Penny Pinchers 2009 Interclub Regatta is this weekend at Redhouse.

This regatta, the first interclub hosted by Redhouse for several years, has been well planned and with good support promised by visiting clubs it will be one of the biggest interclub regattas in our region yet.

The RYC Clubhouse will be open from late on Friday afternoon for early arrivals and to allow you a last minute opportunity to fine tune your boat prior to the regatta.

Race Program:- With good winds and sunshine forecast it is anticipated that three races will be sailed on Saturday followed by another two races with an early start on Sunday. This will allow all entrants the minimum of four races required by a regatta and the benefit of at least one discard.

Entrants are to please ensure that their boats are rigged and ready to launch prior to the 11h00 skippers briefing so as to not cause the planned 12h00 Saturday start to be delayed due to congestion on the slipway.

Prizegiving will be held one hour after the last race on Sunday.

All RYC Members are requested to stay at the Club after the Saturday racing and afford our visitors the warm and friendly hospitality Redhouse is so well known for. A casual supper will also be served in the Clubhouse on Saturday night (R25 adults / R15 children) and with loads of ice cold beer and wine on hand Saturday evening promises to be one that will be remembered for quite a long time. Braai facilities will also be made available throught the weekend for any participants wish to braai / self-cater.

Car Parking:- Ground space for rigging of boats enjoys preference above car parking at all times this weekend. With space at a premium all RYC members are asked to please use the side gate and only park their cars on the hard or lawn between the Grey Rowing Club and the RYC Clubhouse. Other than for anyone camping or towing boats no car parking in the area around the boatsheds or in front of the Clubhouse is allowed at all this weekend. Please respect this ruling or have a case of cold beer on hand to pay the subsequent bar fine after you have moved your car!

Dinghy Launch Dollies:- Volunteers will be sought on the day to assist with the launching and retrieval of boats whenever possible. To ensure they are able to match boats with launch dollies please write your sail number in bold on a large sheet of paper / card, insert it in a plastic bag and attach it to your launch dolly before the start of the first race.

Entries & NOR:- If you have not yet entered please do so now. Notice Of Race and online entry forms (you may enter online right now) are able to accessed by clicking here. Please do not leave your entry for the last minute to avoid unwanted chaos just before the start and help keep our regatta secretary smiling!

Sailing School - There will be no sailing school this weekend. The sailing school fleet will instead sail their own novice courses against our visitors and be part of the interclub regatta on both Saturday and Sunday.

Summer Series Trophy - The final results of the RYC Summer Series trophy races are now posted and able to be viewed online by clicking here. Congratulations and very well done to the winners of each class.

I look forward to a great weekend of racing and your participation in ensuring that RYC remains a firm fixture on the interclub dinghy racing calendar.

Yours in sailing
