REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB
Summer Series 3 &4

Hello all,

The RYC Summer Series Trophy Races 3 &4 this Sunday starts at 11h00 sharp on a good high tide with a moderate southeaster that is perfect for sailing at Redhouse forecast.

Last Sunday we had twenty craft in total braving the very strong winds for the first half of the Summer Series, that given rather extreme conditions, was a most encouraging start to the 2009 sailing year.

I made the mistake of attempting the first race with a full rig that resulted in me enjoying a record breaking six capsises before even crossing the start line! After a rather humiliating withdrawal to change my sail for a radial rig I did manage to finish the second race which was most enjoyable.

The racing this Sunday will be followed by the traditional Sunday bring 'n braai and it will be really good to have as many folk as possible staying on for the braai after the racing. Given the good weather forecast for this Sunday it will also be a good day for you to bring along a friend or two and to introduce them to the wonderful sport of sailing at Redhouse.

The RYC Interclub Regatta 2009 is now just over a week away and this Sunday provides us with our last formal race day to get some practice in ahead of the big weekend. If you have not yet entered please do so now. Notice Of Race and online entry forms (you may enter online right now) are able to accessed by clicking here.

Sailing School - There will a short session of sailing school prior to the racing on Sunday. The sailing school fleet will be able to sail their own novice course as part of the Summer Series immediately after sailing school.

I look forward to you joining us on water at Redhouse for the racing this Sunday and promise that the bar will not run out of cold beer as it did last weekend!

Yours in sailing
