REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB Summer Series 1&2 |
Hello all, The RYC Summer Series Trophy Races 1&2 this Sunday mark the official start of the second half of our 2008/9 sailing season. The first race starts at 11h00 sharp and with a brisk Easterly forecast coupled with a hot sunny day this Club handicap race series should enjoy good support from all members. All sailors are asked to please support this event, to use it as a practice event for the RYC Interclub that is in two weeks time and join us for the bring 'n braai after the sailing. The Special Pursuit Race last Sunday enjoyed good support from our regular sailors who managed to get in one race before the wind start blowing really hard. Congratulations go to to Patrick Butler who won the race. Redhouse Yacht Club is extremely proud of Josh Woolard who has been chosen to participate in the national Optimist selections regatta for a place in either the Optimist World Championships to be held in Brazil or the Optimist African Championships to be held in Richards Bay later this year. Well done and great sailing Josh! The RYC Interclub Regatta 2009 takes place at Redhouse on 24 & 25 January 2009. Notice Of Race and online entry forms (you may enter online right now) are able to accessed by clicking here. All RYC sailors are expected to sail in this regatta that will enjoy competition for the trophy from MBYC, KYC, GLYC, ABYC and any other club whose sailors wish to enter. Sailing School - There will a short session of sailing school prior to the racing on Sunday. The sailing school fleet will be able to sail their own novice course as part of the Summer Series immediately after sailing school. RYC Inter Schools 2009 during March is expected to enjoy huge support from local and visiting sailors. This event is held as the primary fundraiser for the Junior Sailing Trust and also affords many new junior sailors their first opportunity to demonstrate their skills against other sailors of the same age. A large portion of the revenue is generated from the sale of advertising in the official brochure / program that each entrant is given. If your business, employer or anyone else you know would like to book advertising space in the official brochure please contact Rhona Clark on 041 4631611. The advertising rates are extremely reasonable and besides being tax deductible for advertisers the money raised is all used for an extremely good cause. All advertising needs to booked and advertisement copy supplied prior to 31 January. Club Subs & Shed Rentals - Esme' has been diligently chasing up the few remaining members who still have not paid. If you have not received your account or need to make arrangements to pay your subs in installments please telephone Esme' on (041) 463 1605 now. Please take note that boats in sheds for which rental has not been paid will soon be auctioned off to defray storage costs. I trust that you have all enjoyed the Christmas break and I look forward to you joining us on water at Redhouse for the racing this Sunday. Yours in sailing
