REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB g
Special Trophy - Races 1 & 2

Hello all,

This Sunday at Redhouse we sail races 1 and 2 of the Special Trophy II series with an early 12h00 race start time on a full tide.

After the horrible winds last weekend the weather forecast for Sunday predicts a mild Southeaster and a scorching hot day that is bound to result in a large fleet sailing the races - please make a note of the early start time and be at Redhouse to sail on Sunday.

The Bailey Southwell and Island Cup Races were both blown out last weekend and have been postponed to Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 February respectively. The tides that weekend are perfect for both the races making the wind last weekend somewhat of a blessing in disguise.

The Revised RYC Sailing Program for the remainder of the 2009/10 sailing season is now posted on the RYC web site and may be viewed by clicking here.

Sailing School - There will be a full session of sailing school this Sunday for both junior and seniors. All sailors desiring instruction are ask to please be at the Club by 9h30 and have their boats rigged and ready so coach Steve and his assistants may start the training 10h00 sharp.

Please remember that the Hurbert Hurd Primary School open day that was planned for Saturday has had to be postponed as there is an all day junior rowing regatta at Redhouse this Saturday. A suitable alternative date will be arranged and announced as soon as possible.

The Renovation of the Ladies Ablutions are scheduled to start next week. Robin Waters has drafted a plan of the proposed changes and these are stuck on the wall in the clubhouse. Our lady members, and especially those who worked hard to raise the finance for the renovations, are asked to please study the plans and let either myself or Robin know by the end of sailing on Sunday if there is anything on the plan they think should be changed.

The KYC Centenary Inter Club Regatta next weekend is definitely happening and all RYC sailors are asked to please support their club and sail at KYC. There will be both senior and junior courses as well as a separate course for the novices.

RYC won both the senior and junior inter club trophies last month when we hosted the E.Cape event so let's all please do our best to sail at the KYC inter club and bring the trophies back to Redhouse!

KYC is offering free camping on the lawns adjacent to their clubhouse but if you prefer some 5 star comfort I have arranged discounted accommodation a fifteen minute drive from Knysna at Lake Pleasant Living for the RYC sailors.

The rate is R300 for a one bedroom suite and R450 for a two bedroom suite per night (over 80% off the rack rates) on a self catering basis, is for the KYC inter club weekend only and exclusively for RYC members who are sailing in the KYC regatta and not anyone else. Space is limited and may be booked on a first-come-first-served basis by telephoning me on 041 5815394.

Please note that a maximum of two adults and two children under the age of twelve are able to be accommodated in a one bedroom suite and four adults and two children in a two bedroom suite. The the hotel management monitors room occupancy very closely and will ask anyone found sneaking in extra people to leave and still charge you - so please forget any thoughts about having 'visitors' camp on the furniture or floor!

The notice of race for KYC Centenary Inter Club Regatta and more information from the KYC web site may be viewed by clicking here.

That's about all the news for this week
so other looking forward to sailing with you this Sunday at Redhouse I wish you all a great weekend - both on and off the water!

Yours in sailing
