Hello All Christmas Series race 1Frank was in fine form on Sunday ( not on the water) setting an arduous coarse in a rather testing 25 - 30 knot easterly( because he was not on the water ! ). A nice little Laser fleet consisting of Trevor, Pete, Chris and myself had a few fantastic reaches and cart wheeled on most of the gybes. The open A fleet was graced with the presence of Big Andrew on his recuperating Finn, William on his non co-operating Finn and the Bernadies as well as the Loots' on their respective Sonnets. Both couples needed counselling after the race and Nicky needed traction. Our resident Miracle couple of James and Tracy did a few rolls on the run causing some breakages costing them a finish but their sense of humour remained intact. Benno and Chris had a good sail even after their Gypsy’s kicker went on early retirement and Justin beat Stuart across the line in the Teras ( but only just !! ). Christmas Series races 1,2 and 3This is it ! The last official race day for the year starts at 14:00 on Sunday in a predicted 25 knot South Wester. After the racing we will have a little informal get-together and ask that ever one bring a plate of eats for the "party". I recon we will start at about 17:00 . Next week Sunday the 18th we will have a fun day with friends and family on the water, the Bridge crew are in the process of designing an insane/fun race with some crazy antics to round off the first half of the season. Do join us for a day of Fun in the Sun. Nautical TermsBlue Peter - A blue and white flag ( Flag for the letter "P"/ our four minute flag ) hoisted at the foremast of ships about to sail. Formally a white ship on a blue background but later replaced by a white square on a blue background. Crew - Heavy, stationary objects used shipboard to keep down charts, anchor seat cushions and absorb sudden movements of the boom and skipper. ( Nicky, Tracy and Tanya can vouch) Nautical Quote of the Weak"The humblest craft that floats makes its appeal to a seaman by the faithfulness of her life" - Joseph Conrad. That's all for now Friends and Family, see you at the Party. Kindest regards Andrew Butler |
