REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB |
This Long Weekend as we head toward the end of the 2008/9 sailing season we host the prestigious NSRI Trophy Regatta to be sailed on both Saturday and Sunday. The program of events this weekend are as follows:-
Please ensure that you make a note of the different start times as listed above for each day of the sailing this weekend. The NSRI Trophy Regatta is scratch event with Portsmouth ratings used to equalise finish times of yachts competing for this historical sterling silver trophy. The weather forecast for this weekend predicts mixed winds with a 14knot Westerly on Saturday changing to a nominal 7knot Easterly on Sunday which will make for both exciting and competitive racing suitable for all sailors on both days. The NSRI Regatta has an entry fee of R10 per yacht that the Club matches rand-for-rand prior to donating the entire proceeds to the Port Elizabeth NSRI - so please show your support to both your Club and the NSRI by sailing at Redhouse this weekend. Sailing Results for the past few weekends at Redhouse are expected to be available and published on the Club notice board this weekend or as soon as Don, who has just returned from a holiday down under, has managed to work them out. A very big thank you is extended to our bridge ladies who diligently managed the bridge, kept scores and the finish times while Don and Di have been away. Sailing School - There will no junior sailing school at Redhouse this weekend due to Andrew being away - all novice sailors are however invited to sail in the regatta. A session of tuition for our Kingswood College and other Gypsy sailors will still be held prior to the racing on Sunday. Other than the NSRI Regatta this weekend we have just the Frostbite Regatta over the weekend of 16 and 17 May to look forward to prior to the end of the current sailing season and the annual winter break. All members are asked to please support both this weekend's NSRI and the Frostbite regatta to ensure your Club finishes the 2008/9 sailing season in the blaze of glory that you all deserve. I look forward to sailing with you this weekend and to you joining us at the happy hour and bring 'n braai social after the sailing on Saturday. Yours in sailing
