REDHOUSE YACHT CLUB |
Hello all, This Whole Weekend At Redhouse we have one of our most important and prestigious regattas - the RYC Class Championships. The Class Championships regatta takes place on both Saturday and Sunday with 14h00 start times on good high tides both days. This is a scratch championship race series that determines who the best sailors of our Club are. Sailors like me who are not that proficient need not despair that this is a scratch series as we are able to compete against eachother for the prestigious Tommy Senn trophy that is awarded for the best performance based on personal handicap. The importance of the regatta this weekend is clearly illustrated in that there are no fewer than seven trophies up for grabs. These are:-
The longterm weather forecast predicts mild wind on both days that will frustrate the old salts resulting in tactical sailing no doubt determining the victors. Providing an additional challenge for our regulars will be Kingswood College, the East Cape Interschool champions, who are entering a full team of sailors. The Class Championships is one of the most important events on our sailing calendar and all members are expected to please show their support and sail. This Saturday Evening the Club will host an informal supper for all members and their guests with dinner served from 7.00pm. Besides the food there will be plenty of beer and wine to quench your thirst and the usual friendly company always enjoyed at Redhouse. Cost is just R20 per adult and R10 per child under 13yrs. Bookings for the Saturday night supper are recommended but not mandatory. If you prefer to book to ensure you have a table please call Rhona on 041-4631611. Last Weekend the first half of the Autumn Series enjoyed an excellent turnout. The wind was great and very good sailing was enjoyed by all. The results of the Autumn series will be published in full after the series is completed on 19 April. Joshua Woollard is presently in Richards Bay participating in final selections for a place in either the South African national team to represent our country at the Optimist World Championships in Brazil later this year or a place in the South African team for the All African Championships. Redhouse Yacht Club is extremely proud of Joshua, we are all holding thumbs for him and are confident that he will be selected for one of the national teams. Sailing School - There will be a full session sailing school at Redhouse from 10h00 this Sunday. Lose Weight Now - Ask Me How:- A guy calls a company and orders their 5-day, 5kg weight loss program. The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 30 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck. She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me." Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later puffing and puffing, he finally gives up. The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 5kg as promised. He calls the company and orders their 5-day/10kg program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me - twice!". Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape. Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 10kg as promised. He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/25kg program. "Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program." "Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years." The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, "If I catch you, you are mine." He lost 33 kilos that week. This Weekend is going to be great sailing and with a traditional full-house of sailors expected it is not to be missed by both sailors and their supporters. I look forward to you joining us on the water this weekend and enjoying some good competitive sailing on both Saturday and Sunday. Yours in sailing
