NEWS – 18 February 2015

Notes from RYC

Hello to you all.

First and foremost a great big CONGRATS to our 16 sailors that won the Senior Interclub at KYC this past weekend and to Sophie who gave RYC a second in the Junior fleet Interclub !!!!!
It is great that we beat some clubs in their own back yard. Our best placed sailors in the top 10 senior fleet were:- 5: Andrew & Angie Ward, 6: Tim & Meghan Jones and 8: Trevor Kitson ( Ed: I notice we are now downsizing since moving to St Francis J )out of 50 entries and Sophie came 7 overall in the Junior fleet out of 30 entries. The full results are on the KYC website. By all accounts it was a great fun regatta , with good wind and a few spills and some disasters just like a normal regatta. Thanks to all of you for going and keeping Redhouse flag flying high.

On the local front it appears that the river is getting cleaner especially near the club, a reading taken last week came back as 4/100ml, way below the 130/100ml allowed, which is great news.

On the subject of Interschool’s, Michelle is still looking for sponsorship only R50-00 per page for members and families, let her know if you can michelle.martin[at] thanks to all of you that have already sponsored. Rhona is also asking for volunteers to help in the galley, don’t have to do the whole day just lunch or tea time when it gets busy, if you can help please give her a call 041 463 1611.

There is no sailing this weekend as the tides are bad, but hopefully all will be fine for the 1 March when we will sail Special Trophy 2 start not before 14-00 .

Darryl will be holding a training camp on 28 Feb/1 March for all kids needing some practice before the next weekend Interschool’s or for new kids to come and learn so if you know of anybody please let them contact Darryl  garner.darryl[at] . The cost is R250-00 per child for the weekend.
That’s all for now folks.
