RYC needs you at the Knysna regatta

After the success of our regatta last weekend we are trying to put a team together to sail at Knysna regatta.
The regatta is on 15 & 16 February with the first race starting at 12-30 on Saturday.
The entry fee is single handed R140-00 and double handed R200-00 (this includes braai packs x salads for the Saturday evening braai). Juniors are S/H R65-00 and D/h R100-00 .
There is a limited amount of camping space at the club. If you are interested or need some help getting your boat there please contact Colin at colin.benadie@faurecia.com.
So far we have Andrew M, Justin, Colin and Sophie – we need more to win the interclub !!
Let’s get the boats there – it awesome sailing in the lagoon.

Hello to Everybody

Well an interesting race was had on Sunday with 8 boats going up stream, going there was great fun but the return home was a bit heavy what with the wind and the tide going out, a few groundings did occur !
The Junior Trophy was won by Sophie and the Senior by Patrick on his 4.7 strange as it may seem there were no full rigs in the Laser fleet I wonder why ??? A good braai was had after the race enjoyed by all.
This weekend we have the BIG one our annual Interclub, River Challenge and Gypsy Africa’s and if some of you have been hibernating it is time to get those boats out and come sailing. The first race will not start before 11-00 on Saturday morning and we will be sailing both days. There will be a bring and braai on Saturday evening, for more info on entry fees etc look on the website for the details. It will be great to see you all on the river and the gypsy’s especially we had 14 last year hope we can beat that this year. Rumour has it that we might have a Sonnet class !!! that will be great not sure about some other classes though.
See you on Saturday bright and early. :-)
Cheers

Hello to you all
Well a good time was had by all who sailed on Saturday a nice warm up to get the boats and muscles going. The same can’t be said for Sunday that turned out to be rather hairy with a few good capsizes, and a certain crew feeling that the river was too full so decided to drink quite abit of it !
Another few of our sailors were at regatta’s during the break, with Josh getting a 3rd in the Sprog Nationals in Natal and Sarah Arnold once again crewing on the Sonnet to win the Nationals ( but a big birdy told me they didn’t have it all their way ).
Next Sunday we are as they say in the classics “Going Up Stream” sailing the Max Lippstreu with a 11-00 start. There will be a bring and braai after the race.
The following weekend 25/26 January is the Interclub Regatta and Gypsy Africa’s with a start on Saturday of not before 11-00 all the info is on our website for the weekend so please look and hope to see you all there with as many boats as possible, there will be a bring and braai on Saturday night and camping is available for those wishing to stay over.
Just to let you know we will be sailing Island cup and Bailey Southwell on the weekend on 1/2 March please make a note to be there.
All for now hope to see you on Sunday, but definitely the following weekend.
Cheers
